CHATEAUBRIAND BETWEEN THE LINES

 To the discovery of François-René De Chateaubriand in Combourg, of the local and traditional gastronomy, and of Saint-Malo on both seaside and land-side. 

 

 COMBOURG CASTLE

In the beginning of the morning, welcome toCombourg castle with a cup of tea “François-René” and a home shortbread biscuit. The guided visit of this fortress, built on a knoll and on lakefront, will make you appreciatethe entrance porch, the chapel, the main room, the four towers and even more other inhabited rooms.Then the park offers a nice walk.

 LAKE RESTAURANT

Around noon, you will walk through the small town of character to reach a restaurant located in a remarkable site close to the castle and on LakeFront. You will receive a warm welcome and taste the local and traditional gastronomy.

 SAINT-MALO

In the beginning of the afternoon, departure to Saint-Malo. Welcome at your arrival by a guide who will make you discover Chateaubriand’s native house,  the old part of the town intra-muros. He will tell you Robert Surcouf and Jacques Cartier’s story on the ramparts and you will finally reach the Quays. 

Landing for one-hour of sailboat ride to live back a part of the corsair adventure. You will discover the fortified islets, these city guardians, and Grand Bé islet where François-René lies, on seafront. During this cruise, you will enjoy a glass of white wine with small “craquelins” (speciality of Saint-Malo)
